A mix of honey, smoked paprika and orange zest deliver high-impact flavor in this ultra-easy chicken traybake. Even the knifework here is minimal—you’ll only need to trim the chicken, quarter an orange and cut the vegetables into wedges. After transferring the roasted chicken and vegetables to a platter, we combine the drippings that remain on the baking sheet with softened butter and the juice squeezed from the roasted orange. The ingredients come together into a glossy, savory-sweet sauce that will make dinner taste far more labor-intensive than it actually was.

Tip

Don’t forget to pat the chicken dry to wick away excess moisture that would prevent the honey-oil mixture from clinging while also inhibiting flavorful browning.

We loved this dinner!
Made this tonight and wish I had taken a picture of it when it came out of the oven. It looked as great as it tasted. Only modification I made was to use 8 thighs. I was worried it would take longer to cook since there was more chicken, but it was fully done at 30 minutes.

Great seasonal dinner
I followed the recipe exactly as written and it was outstanding. It's a great fall dinner. The potatoes, chicken, and onion were done to perfection with a nice sauce.

Fall dinner
I used half the honey and oil but it was an easy and delicious meal for the season.

Tasty but temperature too high
Flavoring was great, but I nearly burned the whole dish at 475° after 10 minutes. I turned it down to 350° for the rest of the time and it was fine. No sweet potatoes for me, regular potatoes were great.
