Made with butter, brown sugar, a combination of cocoa and chocolate, plus umami-packed white miso to add layers of depth and complexity, this chocolate pudding is a standout. Dutch-processed cocoa is best because it gives the pudding a darker hue and a smoother, richer flavor, but natural cocoa will work, if that’s what you have on hand. Serve chilled and topped with whipped cream, if you like.

Always Requested
I made this two years ago for a different option and it is requested at every big gathering - definitely Thanksgiving and Christmas. Great dessert that's not too heavy or too sweet. Great flavor!

Great flavor
Still reminiscent of classic pudding but with a nice addition -- I don't know if I would pick out that it's miso specifically. I definitely licked the spatula clean.

Excellent!
Wow. This pudding has a depth of flavor that is amazing. I used semi-sweet chocolate and everyone loved it.

Jell-O could never…
I believe desserts should be rich and made with chocolate. This hit all the spots. As someone who regularly makes Jell-O instant pudding as a quick dessert (and a way to use up soon to expire milk), this is in another league.
