Paprikash is one of the most famous dishes from Hungary. In our version, chicken is cooked in a bold paprika-infused sauce, then finished with sour cream to create a tangy, creamy stew. Sweet paprika is a key ingredient, so make sure yours is fresh and fragrant. And for the richest flavor and a full-bodied consistency, opt for full-fat sour cream. Don’t be concerned if the sauce looks broken when you add the sour cream. As the sauce simmers and reduces, the cornstarch helps the sour cream emulsify into the sauce. Buttered egg noodles are the perfect accompaniment to this homey dish.

Like my Oma's
Perfect recipe. No peppers, tomatoes ir chicken broth. . . like my Hungarian families' recipe. Thank you for keeping it simple and how it is.

Just like Grandma
My Hungarian grandmother passed sway before I was born yet somehow this recipe tasted like my memories of her. Memories I never made - just were passed on to me. Paprikash is homey, comfort food. The variety of paprikash and addition of banana pepper garnish makes for a wonderful, in depth flavor.

Easy and very good
This was simple and very good. It wasn’t the best chicken paprikash I’ve ever had but it was definitely good enough to make again. And the yummy to effort ratio makes it worth repeating.

A keeper!
This was easy to prepare, did not require lots of ingredients yet the final dish had so much flavor! Served it with buttered egg noodles and definitely add the fresh dill!
